In 2011 several Anomalies opened up in US cities during Convergence. Cities included Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Orlando, San Francisco and Seattle. (Episode 5.5)

This influenced his decision to close an anomaly there with a nuclear blast, fearing that if an American or other submarine went missing off the coast of Britain, it would start World War III.
