  • If the creature from the movie "A Quiet Place" were to fight a future predator, who would win?

  • Can you please add a description on the novel creatures? Some of them have no description of what they look like and where I live, I'm unable to get the books.

      Loading editor
    • Could you list which creatures specifically. From my knowledge all the pages of the main creatures from the Primeval novels are upto date and descriptive. Some of the lesser creatures from the books still need their pages updated.

    • Iguanodon, Eotyrannus, Neovenator, Polacanthus, entelodon, edmontosaurus(anatotitan), torosaur, ankylosaurus, dimetrodon, deinosuchus, postosuchus and sauroposeidon.

While some of them have descriptions, they are not properly listed. Like the euparkeria is described as green, just green. The wikia also says that dimetrodon is similar to the WWM dimetrodon. There aren't specifics present in the descriptions.

        Loading editor
    • Unfortunately most of the creatures in the books are not properly described and we can not give a description of what they look like (size, colour), when we don't know, we can only state the facts from the book and fill in any other descriptions from real life facts (type of creature, size).

The Ankylosaurus and Eotyrannus pages do need a clean up though. You are welcome to do so or I will eventually get around to doing it.

        Loading editor
    • so some of them don't have their descriptions in the novels too?

  • Hi, I don't edit much on here, but i've been trying to update the videos with the higher quality The Primeval Site videos that they're uploading to YouTube. But when I put the video title in the infobox it doesn't register, so I'm having to upload them outside of the info box. Any help on this?

      Loading editor
    • I have no idea why it wasn't working. To get it to work, I entered source mode and used the add video button and it then worked.

        Loading editor
    • Ok I've worked out how to do it in Source Mode now that's great!

    • And which Series 3 Title Sequence shall we put on, the first one with Douglas Henshall or the one with Jason Flemyng?

        Loading editor
    • Good question.... I know it is confusing because there are four different titles.

      • Episode 3.1 and 3.3
      • Episode 3.2
      • Episode 3.4 and 3.5
      • Episode 3.6 - 3.10

I guess the one with Jason Flemyng (Episodes 3.6 - 3.10) for the infobox and add the others in a heading below in trivia.

  • In Spain (I think) Primeval: New World is being broadcast (technically the translation it Primeval: The New World).

The first three videos in the link have some very nice new promos; for an old show they clearly have put some money into marketing it in Spain, found it quite interesting.

Thought it could be added to the New World page.

    • Very intersting that it would only come out in Spain three years after the original broadcast. I don't think an of the footage ould be used but the name will be  added to trivia.

  • Sorry for my absence, a lot of personal things came up and I couldn't join in with the 10 year anniversary celebrations. However, I'm going to try to be a lot more active and give the wiki a bit of a layout shift as it looks like it's gone to pot a bit without the regular checkups. ;)

    • Not that I have any true say in this, but personally I always thought the red style old version of the Wiki worked really well. Red and white suit Primeval much better in my opinion. I like the idea of making the Wiki an ARC style database, but it doesn't work in context of the real world. For something like that, you'd need an almost featurette type extra to be honest.

  • It took one EMD blast to knock down a Spinosaurus, while a Tyrannosaurus took many shots to knock down.

    My vote goes to Tyrannosaurus.

But one lucky shot and the Gorgonopsid is dead.

  • I Like to think of it this way: What makes Primeval Primeval? How do you define Primeval? We know that TH came up with the idea of prehistoric animals travelling through rips in time and Nick Cutter, and AH came up with Helen Cutter. This is why they are credited with creating Primeval. However, neither Nick nor Helen Cutter, or the storylines surrounding them, are required for Primeval to exist, as they are absent in PNW, yet it is still Primeval. How about the idea of prehistoric animals travelling through rips in time? While this is necessary for Primeval to exist, it is not what makes Primeval Primeval, as it is also present in The Virgin and The Dinosaur, and that is not Primeval. So Tim Haines and Adrian Hodges came up with one idea (prehistoric animals and anomalies) that was too generic to be the basis for Primeval, and other ideas (the Cutters and their storyline, as well as the other characters and their storylines) that are too specific to be the basis for Primeval. So, if Primeval is defined as neither the characters and storylines that TH and AH came up with, nor the anomalies and creatures they came up with, then, what is it? It is the combination of a specific design of anomalies and specific design of creatures with various storylines and characters. And, for the creation of these specific anomalies and specific creatures, as well as specific storylines and characters, in addition to AH and TH, countless other people, ranging from the people at Framestore to the people at ITV to Carim Nahaboo to paleontologists who were consulted, such as Denver Fowler and Darren Naish, to novel writers, to fanfic writers, were involved. This is my view, better elucidated. Feel free to make of it whatever you want.

  • Meanwhile, I have also realized that, if Internet signals can pass through these tiny wormholes, as well, then this means that Primeval fanfics written and transmitted over the Internet might also have managed to permeate many different times, as well.

  • While this seems to me like mainly an issue of semantics, I have noticed that, technically, Tim Haines and Adrian Hodges did not really create Primeval -- rather, they created parts of Primeval. Meanwhile, this is because there are other parts of Primeval that were created by others. For example, each of the four novels was created by someone else, as well as the Future Bird in Shadow of the Jaguar, created by Steven Savile, and the Megopteran in Series 3, created by fan Carim Nahaboo. Meanwhile, since I have written some Primeval fanfiction, I also consider myself to have created parts of Primeval, just as all of these aforementioned individuals did. In reality, Primeval does not have merely one or two creators. Tim and Adrian are only two of many creators.

    • I will have to disagree with you there.

Haines and Hodges are definitely the co-creators of the Primeval concept, stories and most of the characters. ITV, Framestore, the Actors, director and the rest of production are contributers/builders of Primeval, helping create the tv show we know and love that Tim and Adrian created.

The same applies to the novel writers, they just expand the Primeval universe, they didn't 'create' Primeval. And fan-fiction is just unofficial expansion of Primeval.

    • Well, I guess it depends, in large part, on how one defines Primeval. What is Primeval? I define it as the entire Primeval universe, and everything that is a part of it. So, if Primeval is defined as consisting of everything in the Primeval universe, in its entirety, then Tim Haines and Adrian Hodges would not have created it, because not every single concept, nook, and cranny in the Primeval universe was created by them. Also very notable, as well, that Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens played as big of a role for Primeval: New World as Tim Haines and Adrian hodges did for the British Primeval. Just as Haines and Hodges created most of the stories and characters for the British series, both of the Reeves-Stevenses created most of the stories and characters for the Canadian series. And BTW, I never said that the novel writers created Primeval. I said that they created *parts of* Primeval (the novels that they wrote), just as Tim and Adrian created parts of Primeval (the stories, characters, and concepts they created). I do not think anyone has created Primeval.
