Melanie was a patient at the West London Hospital, who was about to give birth. However, that building was the site of an anomaly to the Permian, which allowed a group of Diictodon to enter the present. After settling down into a hospital bed, she talked to her baby about her partner being a good man. She later saw a Diictodon steal her blanket and escape into the halls. Then the ARC team arrived and Nick Cutter and Abby Maitland got to the pregnant woman. She told them that she was having a baby, but then the Diictodon returned. Nick and Abby had to coax the creatures back through the anomaly, while also delivering the woman's baby. She eventually gave birth to a boy whom she lead on to be named after Nick but then states that she wants it to be named Stanley. (Episode 3.3)
